Ellp – Simplify your busy day with a flip of a switch

About Ellp
With the hectic lives we lead, it’s no wonder we turn to technology to ease our workload and help us out with our daily tasks. However, as great as technology is, it still presents some unpleasantries, especially since most PC tasks require so many different settings and interactions. This makes managing your device, its apps and the infinite number of tasks and activities it runs an absolute nightmare. Ellp can help with this, as it not only simplifies this process but also offers a personalized way of automating tasks, allowing you to manage your daily tasks with ease.

How does it work?
Ellp’s automation structure is built around a collection of Ellp cards, that cover four categories, mainly productivity, performance, security, and entertainment. These Ellp cards work on the basis of a trigger and action concept, with each card solely focused on helping you carry out a particular task. For example, ‘When I’m spending too much time on Facebook, ping me’ or ‘When I download the same file twice, let me know’. The automation process is quite straightforward:

  1. Choose the cards that matter most to you
  2. Edit them according to your preferences
  3. Switch the activation toggle on

Once done, you can just relax and let Ellp do all the work for you, only alerting you when an action is required from your side.

User Interface
The design is simple and clean, allowing for easy navigation. Based on its simplicity principle, you can easily browse and access your favorite Ellp cards through the navigation menu and categories.

Ellp’s Beta version is available to all Windows (Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10) PC and laptop users.

Blak – The ultimate video game for Android

Posted on: April 24th, 2014 by SoftwarePatch.com No Comments

It had originally started as an April’s Fool joke for 2014, but has since become loved by those who dared to download it.

One reviewer, for instance, goes on to say:

Incredible Top notch graphics, gripping storyline, great gameplay. What more do you need? Play this game to discover yourself.

And what is your task? Stare at the black screen, and tap it when it flashes white. The screen can stay black for anywhere from 1 second to, wait for it, one month.

And what happens when you tap on the black screen? Well, it’s game over I’m afraid. Retry?

Spotify to introduce free, on-demand service

Posted on: December 6th, 2013 by SoftwarePatch.com No Comments

There is a huge emphasis on mobile-specific on-demand services right now, and music streaming service Spotify has taken note of this. The company currently offers unlimited mobile music streaming for $10 a month, but has recently penned deals with labels like Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group with the view to up their ad-based services and offer free streaming instead. While Spotify has a similar service available for desktop and laptops, this doesn’t include unlimited music streaming. Mobile users opting for the free service will also find limitations – although they will be able to choose what tracks to listen to, they will only get a limited number of on-demand songs per month. More details will be revealed during a press conference next week.

Apple purchases Topsy for $200 million

Posted on: December 3rd, 2013 by SoftwarePatch.com No Comments

The Wall Street Journal has reported Apple’s acquisition of social media analytics startup Topsy in a deal claimed to be worth more than $200 million. The start-up specializes in analyzing Twitter data and providing insights into trending topics. The purchase is an unusual move for Apple, who at this present point do not seem to have a use for Topsy’s raison d’etre. However, the tech giant has made a habit of buying technology to be used in future products – it did just that with PrimeSense Ltd earlier this year, which eventually led to a new line of processors for the iPhone and iPad.

When asked for comment, Apple refused to divulge any details aside from confirming the purchase; and Topsy did not respond.

Land on the Moon – with Google Earth

Posted on: October 21st, 2013 by SoftwarePatch.com No Comments

Google Earth is a great way to discover our planet, using either the browser plugin or the standalone version. But the browser plugin is more than just a map plugin to scroll around, as it has got some exciting features if you know how to use them.

One example of the funny features can be tried on the website of PlanetInAction. In this mini applet you can try your skills as an astronaut and land your spacecraft on the Moon in the exact same circumstances as Neil Armstrong faced during the Apollo 11 mission.

During the final landing phase it became apparent that the computer was steering directly towards a crater and big boulders, with only seconds of fuel to spare. We know that Neil Armstrong landed safely – but can you? Download the latest Google Earth plugin, and open the link above to prove your skills!

Gecko will give your smartphone an IQ boost

Posted on: October 10th, 2013 by SoftwarePatch.com No Comments

It seems internet-based funding platforms like Kickstarter are choc-a-bloc with the latest in creative ideas and inventions, and Gecko is no exception. Currently hitting major headlines, Gecko is a tiny gadget that its creators claim will “make your smartphone smarter”.

The way it works is simple. Connect Gecko to your phone via Bluetooth, and control your favorite smartphone functions using physical movements like a twist of the wrist or a shake. In a nutshell, Gecko allows you to access your smartphone without ever having to pull it out of your bag or pocket.

It doesn’t stop there, for Gecko’s capabilities go way beyond smartphone tie-ins. You can “tag” doors and windows to have Gecko alert you every time they’re opened, or even tag your bag or wallet to let you know whenever they’re touched. A function called “Smart Leash” means that you can tag your dog with Gecko, which will send you a warning if he/she wanders off beyond a certain point. Another feature means you can attached Gecko to a pillbox and get an alert if you, or one of your loved ones, have forgotten to take your scheduled medication.

Since Connovate Technology is a start-up they have set up a funding page on Indiegogo, and have a target price of $50K with a release-to-market date in mind. You can see the page here.
