Adaptec AHA-2940U2W – Ultra2 SCSI

The Adaptec AHA-2940U2W features SCSI Ultra2 technology that uses a type of circuitry called Low Voltage Differential. This is actually worked into the CMOS. This increases the signal strength and enables it to provide a bandwidth that is 100% faster than previous Ultra speeds with cables of up to 25 meters long. This is not intended for home computers but rather for high-end workstations and small to medium servers. It is capable of transferring data to a maximum of 80 MB per second.

The small computer system interface like the Adaptec AHA-2940U2W Ultra2 SCSI chipset, known as SCSI, is a set of standard components used for connections between computers and external gadgets. SCSI was developed in 1978, but was not really disclosed or marketed until 1981. SCSI was derived from "SASI", the "Shugart Associates System Interface". It uses a 50-pin flat hole connector. Later in 1986, it was standardized and began to be called Small Computer System Interface, now known as SCSI. SCSI is used in the transference of data between computers and peripherals, and this can be found in devices such as the Adaptec AHA-2940U2W Ultra2 SCSI chipset.
