The ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 is a high-quality motherboard. It has features such as USB 3.0 support, SATA 6.0Gb/s for newer high speed drives, SSDs, and numerous multimedia connections. This is one of the few boards that support the AMD six core processors and blazing 2000MHz memory speeds. ASUS has managed to incorporate one click overclocking and automatic unlocking of cores for some of AMD’s dual core chips that are actually quad cores with half of the cores disabled, thus eliminating the need for manual unlocking because the motherboard does it.
The Host Controller Interface, a register-level interface such as the Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 chipset, is used for the USB or Firewall hardware to communicate with the software. This was before the open platform approach was used in chipsets from ATI. The host controller interface is simply a register-level interface that permits the controlling host for USB or FireWire hardware to communicate with the appropriate driver and application software. Driver software is typically provided by the operating system, but can be also implemented via microcontroller. On the motherboard controller, this involves custom logic and digital logic engines in FPGAs with analog circuitry, thereby managing high speed differential signals. On the software side, it requires a device driver, also called a Host Controller Driver for similar devices like the Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 chipset.AUTHOR
