The Brother DCP 7010 uses laser technology to print and copy, which would be quite expected as standalone laser printers and photocopiers actually use the same process called xerography. It was first invented in 1969, but was initially made for high volume printing, and took up so much space that it could fill an entire room. It was not introduced as office equipment until 1981, but it was too expensive to be of use to anyone. It was in 1984 that it was developed for mass commercial use, addressing the issues of cost and size.
