The Brother HL 4040CN uses laser printing in producing clear text and graphics. Laser printers also use a process similar to xerography (the process used in photocopiers). This process differs from xerography in the way that the laser printer directly scans the laser beam through the printer?s photoreceptor. The first laser printer was invented in 1969, but was not applicable for a home or office setting until 1984. Laser printers use toner or dry ink, a stark contrast from inkjets that often use water or oil based ink.
