The Canon i250 Bubble Jet printer is a part of a series of inkjet printers produced by Canon that uses heating systems, different from the typical print heads with piezoelectric crystals that regular inkjet printers use. These are also called thermal inkjet printers. A current is passed through the heating element to vaporize the ink in the chamber and form a bubble, which then propels a drop of ink onto the paper. This process is from where Canon got the term ?bubble jet?.

The Canon i250 is a thermal inkjet printer, also called a bubble jet printer by its manufacturer. Note that a thermal inkjet printer is very different from a thermal printer, as thermal printers produce images by heating thermal paper, which is used in fax machines, receipt printers and the like. A thermal inkjet printer, however, uses heaters placed in a series of tiny chambers inside the print cartridges, all constructed by using the process of photolithography.
