The Hauppauge WinTV HVR 950 is a TV tuner that allows for both Analog & Digital HDTV TV viewing. USB2.0 compatibility ensures enough throughput to ensure jitter-less viewing. It does not need its own external power source as it can simply be plugged into a USB 2.0 slot and it will draw its power from the laptop or PC it is connected to. The TV antenna that comes with it receives NTSC TV signals: this makes watching TV possible anywhere.

ATSC is an acronym for the Advanced Television Systems Committee. In popular usage, the term refers to a specific standard for the transmission of digital TV. These standards are transmitted over a wide variety of networks. Perhaps the most talked-about format now in the ATSC set is HDTV (high definition television), which produces wide screen or 16:9 images that are up to 1920 x 1080 pixels in resolution. This is over six times an NTSC analog display resolution that has a 4:3 aspect ratio. ATSC formats also support standard definition formats. Some TV Tuners are capable of catching both analog and digital signals.
