The HP Deskjet 990c series printer is a photo-quality unit that produces excellent print quality for a wide variety of content and material, from plain text on standard paper to vivid color images on photo paper. It features Enhanced Color Layering Technology based on HP PhotoREt III Printing Technology. This technology implements enhanced fade resistance, vivid inks, and more minute drop size to produce excellent print quality at high speeds for all types of media, including incredibly life-like photo images.

For inkjet printers, the usual cause of inkjet printing problems is ink drying on the print head?s nozzles. This causes the dyes and pigments to dry out and form solid particles hardened mass that partially or completely clogs the microscopic ink holes and pathways. Some printers try to prevent this incidence of drying from happening by capping the nozzles with a rubber cap when the printer is not in operation. Sudden interruption of power before printhead capping has happened, can cause unnecessary drying.
