The Nokia 3250 uses the 2G network, short for second generation wireless telephone technology. 2G networks started in 1991 in Finland. Through 2G, phone conversations are digitally encrypted. 2G also introduced data services for mobile phones, thus allowing text messaging. 2G systems are also more efficient and allow greater mobile phone penetration levels. Although this technology has given way to 2.5G (GPRS), 2.75G (EDGE), 3G and 4G, the 2G system is still widely used all over the world.AUTHOR
