ONDA Proprietary USB Modem

The Onda N101E USB Minimodem is a four band USB modem from Onda Communication. It can be attached to a computer or a laptop device via a USB port and it supports all the different frequencies that are used by EDGE and GSM/GPRS networks. This allows the user to connect to the internet and go online from almost anywhere in the world as most countries support these frequencies. With this product, users can surf the internet at connection speeds of 100 to 130 KBps and can even go up to 216 KBps. The modem sports three indicator lights ? a power indicator, a ?failure to connect? indicator and a network indicator.

The modem can make use of ?Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution? or EDGE technology to connect to the internet. A generation behind 3G, EDGE facilitates faster data transmission rates on GSM networks than vanilla GSM and is considered to be a part of GSM by the 3GPP. The EDGE enhancement can boost the performance of a typical GSM/GPRS connection by almost 300%. One of the advantages of EDGE is that deploying it does not need any hardware or software changes to be made to the core GSM network. Most mobile operators support EDGE, with a 2009 survey discovering that among 441 mobile operators globally, 413 supported this technology.
