ATI Radeon X1550 is a graphics card with 105 million transistors and 4 and 2 pixel and vertex shader processors respectively. While it requires a PCI-E bus interface, it can also work with an AGP 8x interface with the help of an external bridge chip . Full and extensive support for Microsoft DirectX 9 is built in to the card, as is support for OpenGL 2.0 and Shader Model 3.0. The shader engine is capable of 128-bit floating point processing which can generate as much as 128 pixel threads at the same time. The card can handle of 2 to 6x anti-aliasing to minimize visual distortion.

The desktop graphic card offers many advanced features to improve image quality. In addition to the 2x to 6x anti-aliasing, it also features 2-16x anisotropic filtering modes that give users the freedom to select whether they want high-speed performance of high-quality images. High levels of anisotropic filtering is useful in maintaining image detail at oblique viewing angles. The card also features the AMD CrossFire technology, which lets an user install as many as 4 graphics processors in a computer for better graphics and performance. One of the major advantages of CrossFire over similar technologies is that the installed cards need not be the same model. As long as they are from the same series, they will work with each other.
