Description:

The Startech 2 Port Native ExpressCard RS232 Serial Adapter Card with 16950 UART is an ExpressCard device that allows the user to connect two legacy serial port devices to their ExpressCard equipped laptop or desktop. The maximum baud rate this device can achieve is 115.2 KBps, which ensures uninterrupted communication with the attached peripherals. The card has automated flow control(in/out-of-band) as well as a single chip design that ensures that the load on the system CPU is cut by nearly half without compromising on speed, power or reliability .

For any serial link device, the FIFO (First In, First Out) rate needs to be appreciably constant. The device recognizes organizing data on the basis of time and prioritization. This technology enables the card to service conflicting demands by following a 'first come first served' manner. This card can perform 128-byte FIFO communication and maintains this configuration in both deep transmit and deep receive modes. It also supports Active State Power Management or ASPM (both L0S and L1 modes) settings, ideal to reduce the power consumption of serial link devices. This in turn increases the battery life of the laptop that the card is connected to.
