Description:

The D-Link 10/100 Fast Ethernet Notebook Adapter (DFE-690TXD) is a PCMCIA 10/100 Ethernet Card that has a RJ-45 type connector built into it. It enables users to access hi-speed wired network connections through their laptops and notebooks. The card is compatible with all 32-bit Type 2 Cardbus slots and adheres to the IEEE 802.3, as well as IEEE 802.3u standards. It supports half duplex and full duplex communication over an Ethernet connection with speeds of 10 MBps and 20 MBps respectively. The card also supports the ANSI/IEEE 802.3 Nway Auto-Negotiation standards. There are two LEDs to show indicate active 10-link and 100-link connections.

The card requires a Type II 32-bit PCMCIA Cardbus slot to function and is not compatible with a 16-bit slot. It's auto-negotiation feature allows it to adjust automatically to the maximum data transfer rate supported by the network up to a maximum of 200 MBps. At the very least, the card enables users to share and access documents and files with other computers in the local network. If the network is connected to a high-speed internet connection, it allows browsing, e-mail and online chatting as well. The adapter is designed to be hot swappable, which means it can easily be removed even while the laptop is running.
