ATI’s Radeon 9600 XT graphics card is based on the ATI RV360 graphics processing unit. This graphics card from ATI is basically a faster version of the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro. ATI’s Radeon 9600 XT graphics card features safe overclocking at 500 MHz core clock, 600 MHz memory clock, 128 bit memory bus width, 9.6 GB/sec peak memory bandwidth, BGA DDR SDRAM memory type, 2000 Mtexels/s peak texel fill rate, S-video inputs and outputs, DVI port, VGA port, and more.

The first computer to use a graphics processing unit or GPU was called the Commodore Amiga and was released in 1985. The following year, Texas Instruments released the first microprocessor with on-chip graphics called TMS34010. After 4 years, it became the basis of the many Windows accelerator cards produced today. Over the years, many companies have produced graphics processing units under a large number of brand names. Perhaps the more notable companies include Nvidia, Intel, AMD/ATI, Via Technologies, S3 Graphics, and Matrox.
