Description:

SATO M-5900RVe is a direct thermal printer built for heavy-duty industrial usage. It is capable of providing a maximum printing speed of 125 mm/sec, at resolutions as high as 203 dpi. The device is equipped with a 32-bit processor of type RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer), along with 18 MB of onboard memory (Flash: 2 MB, RAM: 16 MB), which allow it to efficiently handle large print queues. It can handle media with widths between 1.5? and 5.1?, and offers a maximum print width of 4.4?. The printer can be connected to a computer, or a network router, using a wide variety of connectivity interfaces, including Ethernet (10/100 BaseT connectivity), Wireless (802.11g), Parallel (IEEE 1284 standard), Serial (RS232 Port), or USB.

The printer is equipped with a Reflective Sensor, which helps the device to start printing at the proper position, when printing on tag papers. When these papers have black marks on the reverse, printing right over those marks could lead to poor quality printing. The sensors help the printer avoid regions having such marks in high concentration and start printing only in clearer regions, thereby ensuring high quality of the finished product. There is a risk of the process failing, if the reflective nature of the media (other than the black spots) varies. However, in that case, the printer can still correct the value with the help of predefined threshold values for reflection, which are stored in the EEPROM of the printer.
