Sitecom 300N Wireless USB adapter X3 WL-345 is capable of offering data transfer speeds of up to 300 Mb/sec under ideal conditions. It can boost wireless signal strength with the help of two inbuilt antennas, while also utilizing Extended Range (named XR) technology. The device complies to 802.11b/g/n wireless network standards, and can support a wide range of security standards, including WPA2 (TKIP, AES), WEP (both 64 and 128-bit) with authentication via shared keys, along with WPA. It can be connected to any desktop or notebook computer via USB 2.0 port. Users can configure the device quite easily, by pressing a single OPS push button.
The device utilizes XR (Extended Range) technology, originally developed by Atheros Communications, which is used to optimize the performance of wireless networking devices. As the name suggests, the technology works towards extending the region covered by a particular device, while also keeping signal strength uniform throughout the region. This ensures that there are few or no dead spots (locations where signal strength is way below acceptable limits), and that data transfer speed is maintained at a constant level, as long as no external disturbance is introduced in that region. Devices supporting XR carry out all these actions without requiring any user intervention, which is one of the most significant reasons for the growing popularity of the technology.AUTHOR
