Description:

The status port driver is a component of the driver of the Dell Wireless 5700 Mobile Broadband ExpressCard. This card is used to provide high speed data connectivity to Dell laptops and notebooks like the Dell Inspiron B130, the Inspiron 9400 and the XPS M2010. However, to connect to the internet, the card requires a subscription to a data plan from a vendor like Verizon Wireless in the US. It can provide maximum download speeds of 2.4 Mb/sec and while it is an EV-DO card, it is also backwards compatible with CDMA 1x. The product has a flip-up antenna as well as an external antenna port, so other antennas or amplifiers can be attached to it.

The product is an EV-DO card, which means that it is designed to work with EV-DO or Evolution Data Optimized networks. This technology has evolved from the CDMA2000 (IS-2000) standard and while it is part of the same CDMA2000 family, it supports higher data rates. That is why many mobile phone service providers, especially those who used CDMA networks earlier, have accepted this standard. The back end of this type of network has a packet based structure and is thus free from restrictions that otherwise hamper typical circuit switched networks. It has a channel bandwidth of 1.25 MHz and data transfer speeds as high as 3.1 Mb/sec with Rev.A.
