SyncMaster 701N is a 17? (diagonal) LCD monitor manufactured by Samsung. It features a display of type amorphous silicon (a-si) TFT Active Matrix, capable of offering up to 300 cd/m2 of brightness, as well as contrast ratio of 600:1. The display can offer a maximum dot pitch of 0.264 mm and a maximum video sync rate of 75 Hz x 81 kHz. The monitor can support video bandwidth of as much as 140 MHz, with a response time of 8 ms, ensuring that no ghosting or shadow trails are left behind when an image is erased from the screen in order to make room for a new one.

The monitor utilizes the proprietary PowerSaver technology developed by Samsung. This technology automatically turns off the display to save power, when the user does not use the computer for an extended period of time. The user can choose to set the time limit after which the monitor would be turned off. Otherwise, the technology will utilize the default value, which is close to 3 minutes. The feature is capable of saving a great deal of energy, given that the monitor consumes close to 34W of electricity when operating normally, which can drop to as low as 1W when PowerSaver is triggered and the display is turned off.
