A Taiyo Yuden Bluetooth module has been installed in Toshiba Satellite A100-036 laptop. It makes use of Bluetooth wireless technology in order to exchange data with other devices over a small area by means of radio transmissions (short wavelength) in the Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) band (2400 – 2480 MHz). It also helps users to create PANs (Personal Area Networks) with customized security options. It is able to connect with various devices via Bluetooth, without the synchronization problems that often occur among devices connected using other wireless technologies. The product is also able to connect two or more piconets (a computer network that makes use of Bluetooth technology) in order to form a scatternet.

The device makes use of Bluetooth; a standard wireless protocol mainly designed for lowering the power consumption (otherwise required) during mutual interactions among electronic devices. The technology is based on transceiver microchips, installed in each device. Bluetooth devices utilize a radio communication system. This technology is quite useful when it comes to exchanging of commands and information between multiple devices, in low-bandwidth conditions. A Bluetooth device may be used for transferring sound data between two devices (example telephones) or byte data (file transfer) between computers. This also helps in simplifying the discovery as well as setup of various services between devices that support the technology.
