Following up on the US-122, the TASCAM US-144 brings a slew of features to the table including 0 latency, parallel recording and MIDI input and output all within a solid form factor making it a mobile solution. DAWs are Digital Audio Workstations, an electronic device primarily designed to record, edit and playback digital audio. The first prominent DAW was the Synclavier, first released in 1977 and was manufactured by New England Digital Corporation which went out of business in 1992. The Synclavier made a number of unconventional appearances including as a speech analyst within intelligence services and on board Galileo; a spacecraft sent to study Jupiter and its moons.
