In order to open a RAW file, you need a program that has each camera's RAW values. For example, if you had a RAW file from a Canon, but your program only support Nikon RAW formats, you won't be able to view the files. The 4.1 update for Photoshop includes support for DNG files and new cameras so you can open the files directly in Photoshop.
