This download contains the latest drivers for Creative Sound Blaster 16, 32, or AWE sound cards operating under Windows 95 or 98. Primarily this update includes a recent fix for an audio distortion problem that occurs when the Sound Blaster 16Xpress chip was left running overnight. It also includes the following fixes:

  • Removes demand mode feature for all chips.
  • Fixes the PCMCIA card’s logical device ID if it is too long.
  • Fixes the default midi device not selected in multimedia applet problem.
  • Resolves the problem of removing instrument(s) from User Bank 0.
  • Corrects the reporting of compressed formats supported by the audio drivers.

  • Resolves the problem of Windows 95 defined devices appearing as a device driver installation option during Windows NT setup.
  • Fixes the problem due to the DirectSound playback getting the same wave device as the WaveIn.
  • Fixes wave playback looping problems in full duplex mode.
  • Solves bug for Creative Mixer 32 application on CT4520 and CT4530 cards.
  • Enables DOS Games to run in DOSBox on system that implements 16CL chip as a motherboard BIOS drive.
  • Sets noise level of CT4520 to be almost the same as CT4500.
