Description
Here is what Microsoft have to say about Windows Live Mail Desktop, with all their hype included:
  • Speedy access to multiple e-mail accounts in one place (even AOL and Gmail)
  • The power of desktop software with the flexibility of Web-based e-mail
  • A way to get your newsgroups and RSS feeds as easily as you get e-mail The ability to compose, delete, and organize e-mail even when you're offline
  • A massive 2 GB of online inbox storage
  • Address AutoComplete and other handy features to let you speed through your e-mail like never before
  • The power to instantly add an MSNŽ Spaces blog entry about any message
  • Keep in touch with your MSNŽ Messenger contacts right from inside the program
  • Easy creation and editing of photo e-mails
Our view - much like Internet Explorer 7, Windows Live Mail Desktop is not that good and hardly worth the upgrade. Most of the hyped features are already available in Outlook Express - but now everything is jumbled around. Some annoying points are that the Windows Live Mail Desktop will automatically turn on your Windows Update settings, plus that parasite - Windows Messenger - rears it's ugly head again. Features such as the touted RSS feed option require that you have Internet Explorer 7 installed. What is difficult to understand is that these are exactly the same types of problems people have been bitching about for years - but rather than listen, Microsoft have plodded on and done exactly the same wrong things again. If you're curious, take a look for yourself but heed this following caution:

Warning - this is the beta version of the program. Only install the program if you understand the risks of using beta software.
