The Epson TM-T88V is a thermal receipt printer that provides printing speeds of up to 11.8 inches per second, both for graphics as well as text, with the effective printing width being about 3 inches. It is ENERGY STAR compliant and provides users with print options that help in reduction of paper usage of up to 30 percent. As the paper is fed to the printing head using the friction feed method, it does not require any special type of paper and works fine with standard thermal paper. There is an auto cutter built into the product that can cut paper up to .0031 inches thick.
The device is a thermal printer, which means that it operates by applying heat to the thermal paper as it passes through the print head. The paper is coated with chemicals that turn black when exposed to heat. Thus, by selectively heating the paper, text and images can be reproduced on it.
