Zune is Microsoft’s belated answer to iTunes and the iPod. According to Microsoft, Zune Software let’s you ‘Manage and view your songs, videos, and pictures. Rip and burn CDs. Create playlists. Edit track and album information. And Zune software can automatically import your existing files, including your music and video from iTunes and Windows Media Player.’

This of course has fine print which reads ‘Zune software can import audio files in unprotected WMA, MP3, AAC; photos in JPEG; and videos in WMV, MPEG-4, H.264.’ In other words, since almost all purchased iTunes content is protected, anything you have bought through iTunes will not play on Zune (unless you convert it to an MP3 file first). For many people, their entire iTunes library is useless on Zune. Luckily, MP3 files are fine. At least Zune is an alternative for Windows users who may feel that Apple treats them as second-class citizens.

We have noticed that Zune is putting on a lot of weight – Zune 4.7 weighs in at 551MB, over six times the size of iTunes.

Since version 23.0, Firefox has got a new security feature, called Mixed content blocking. Some websites are using both insecure HTTP and secure HTTPS protocols on the same page and Firefox can now differentiate between ?Mixed Passive Content? and ?Mixed Active Content?, and permit innocent objects, such as images to appear in the middle of an HTTPS page, but block for example an insecure JavaScript code in the same page.
